Narrative
Our parents considered it thier responsibility to see that their children received an education. There was never a question as to whether we go to college. That was a given. The question was where will you go to college?
Mother grauated from Hampton Institute and taught for many years in elementary schools of Middlesex and Westmoreland Counties. Daddy graduated from Va State College and taught for a short while. THen he went into farming and auto mechanics. Later in life he had several businesses. They were both instrumental in helping to secure the property for the building of the High school for the "colored" children of Middlessex co._John St. Clair Walker High
After the "Nest was Empty" my father built a home across the road from the school.
